ROSI Environment
Because it matters

Gentle production, short distances

With the plan to develop the world's first soundproof booth made of wood, both our research partners and we faced countless open questions regarding feasibility and construction, as well as these questions:

How sustainable are our current practices? Where does the material for the existing cabins come from? How can we improve our use of resources? How can we reduce transport distances even further?

Months of research followed. The result of the life cycle assessment – conducted by the Department of Holistic Assessment at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics in Stuttgart – was: Every single component of the classic STUDIOBOX – whether wood, fittings, seals, or acoustic fabric – originates from Europe. Without exception. In times of global trade and often questionable production conditions, this is almost unbelievable.

But we wanted more. Much more. Because vital corporate culture must not be just a buzzword on paper.

Wellbeing box from the Christmas tree forest

“It has to be local wood,” stipulated Elisabeth Hutter, COO at STUDIOBOX and also managing director of the Hutter Acustix carpentry workshop. “A renewable resource that is available in large quantities here. Ideally from those nearby forests where our Christmas trees also come from.”

The choice fell on conifers: fir and spruce trees. In Styria – the most densely wooded region in Austria, which is already very densely wooded – forests cover 61.4 per cent of the land. That is around 850 million trees (approx. 700 per inhabitant).

This federal state is also known as the Green Heart of Austria. It's a region where a new single-family home is regrowing every four minutes.

That's exactly where our ROSI is produced.

Responsibility for generations

And the rest? Where do those components come from that are not made of wood and wood-based materials, such as window panes, fittings, etc.?

The glass for the windows and studio doors arrives by rail from Italy. The seals and Sylomer decoupling strips are produced in Germany, and the steel for the door handle comes from England.

Conclusion: Not a single component transported across the globe. STUDIOBOX thus guarantees, as certified by Fraunhofer, not only the highest quality but also purely European origin and added value.

In addition to the very small CO2 footprint in production, the cabins offer extremely long usability and easy, environmentally friendly recycling at the end of their life cycle.

This is what we mean by responsibility for generations. We stand for this with our name.
